At SFG, our conviction in the transformative power of education is unwavering. Education, with its ability to open doors of opportunity and shape the future, forms the cornerstone of our ethos. Therefore, our commitment is to see every student not just survive but thrive in their educational journey, fuelling their aspirations, and dreams. It is our vision that each student will leave us having gained the skills, qualifications, and habits necessary for a successful and fulfilling life ahead.

At SFG, we recognise the contextual barriers that prevent many of our students, particularly those who are disadvantaged or have special educational needs, from succeeding at school and beyond. 

These barriers include poor literacy and numeracy skills, limited exposure to the world beyond our town, and low self-confidence. 

These main barriers have a huge impact on our students’ academic and personal development, all of which will lead to lower employment levels, poor mental health, and lack of readiness for life in the 21st century. 

To address all of the above, we focus on developing language, knowledge, and confidence. These underpin the direction and development of all areas in our school.
